Why an Electric Lawn Mower is the Smarter Choice for Lawn Care

Why an Electric Lawn Mower is the Smarter Choice for Lawn Care

Over the years, the lawn care industry has seen vast changes in the quality of equipment being produced by manufacturers, and one of the current trending questions is whether or not consumers should use electric lawn mowers versus gas-powered mowers. While both have their benefits, if you address the question with health, safety, and environmental responsibility in mind, the answer is simple – go with the electric mower.

Electric Mowers are Environmentally Friendly

It’s important to consider the negative effects that gasoline has on both the operator of the machinery as well as the environment. Did you know that over 17 million gallons of gasoline are spilled each year while fueling mowers? That amount is more than what was spilled during the Exxon Valdez disaster. Not only is this a waste of money and resources, but the gasoline seeps into our groundwater and the rest evaporates into our air, polluting the ozone. There are no gas spills with electric mowers.

An Electric Mower is Healthier

I won’t fail to mention the health of the person running the mower. According to the EPA, particle pollution and volatile organic compounds, which are released from the combustion of gasoline in the mowers, can be lodged into the operator’s lungs causing “respiratory problems, cardiac arrhythmia (heartbeat irregularities), and heart attacks.” An electric lawn mower does not produce emissions.

Electric Lawn Mowers are Easy on the Ears

Next, think about the harm that those noisy gas-powered mowers inflict on the operator’s hearing. Gas mowers operate at about 95 decibels and hearing loss can occur after prolonged exposure to over 90 decibels. Electric lawn mowers are virtually noiseless. So by using electric equipment, you’ll save your hearing and your neighbors’ sanity.

Going Electric will Save you Money

With the rising cost of gasoline and oil, it’s important to save money where it’s possible.  By using an electric lawn mower, you won’t have to worry about refueling at the pump or using an outstanding amount of oil to maintain superfluous parts that gas-powered lawn mowers need.  Electric lawn mowers require much less maintenance and function without costly tune-ups or oily parts.

Electric is Just as Powerful

In this day and age, you no longer have to worry about exchanging the power of gas equipment to use sustainable electric lawn care equipment. Electric mowers have just as much vigor as gas-powered mowers and are much safer for the health of the operator and the community in which you live.

Electric Lawn Care Equipment Leads to Sustainable Lawn Care

By practicing sustainable lawn care, even if you’re simply choosing an electric lawn mower (which is a start), you will be ensuring the health and safety of the operator, you’ll save money, and you will be protecting the environment from harmful emissions and gasoline spills.  Electric lawn mowers are the best choice for sustainable lawn care maintenance.

Wow, it’s very informative when you said that electric lawn mowers are healthier compared to manual ones as they don’t produce andy harmful organic compounds emissions. We will move to a presidential house next month, and it has a lawn. My husband is now looking or lawn mowers to use. I will advise him to get the electronic ones because it’s good for the health and it has a lot of advantages as you’ve mentioned in your article.

My daughter started with an electric lawnmower. We now have an electric lawnmower, blower, snowblower and edger. The batteries can be used in all of them. Love these tools and my grandsons help with the yard work and no gas smell, safer for all of us.
