What Seattle Customers Say

We’ve been with Clean Air Lawn Care for just over a month now and have been impressed by their service. Our regular technicians, Jenson and Alex, do a wonderful job keeping the lawn tidy and ensuring our walkways are clean without overblowing grass or mulch where it doesn’t belong. We started out with a difficult space that didn’t survive the winter thanks to a poor installation by a garden designer. Clean Air Lawn Care completely turned it around and it is looking lovely.

H.P. R., Google review

Avery did a great job. My yard looks so nice. I couldn’t do it all the work my property needs on my own! And I love the quiet, eco-friendly service!

D. K., Google review

I have used Clean Air Lawn Care for 9+ years. They brought a dead lawn back to life! And it looks fantastic all year round. Very good at what they do.

Our Organic Lawn Services in Seattle and the Eastside

Every service below is built around one idea: feed the soil, and the lawn takes care of itself. Explore the details on each service or get a free estimate.

Organic Lawn Fertilization

Our organic fertilization is designed for Pacific Northwest soils and cool-season grasses. Custom, nutrient-rich organic fertilizers and soil builders, developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists, improve soil structure and boost microbial activity so your lawn stays green through Seattle’s wet springs and dry summer stretches.

Natural Weed Control

Real organic weed control starts with turf dense enough to crowd weeds out. For Northwest weeds like dandelions, plantain, and clover, we use Moose Juice, our plant-based weed control, instead of harsh chemical herbicides, protecting soil biology along the way. We also use beneficial nematodes for grubs and beetles, and treat a variety of lawn fungus.

Electric Lawn Mowing

Our electric mowers, trimmers, and blowers fit Seattle’s dense, eco-minded neighborhoods. No fumes and low noise make them ideal where sound carries across shared courtyards and tighter city lots. You get a precise, consistent cut and detailed edging, and we mow high to help keep weeds and moss out naturally.

Organic Moss Control

Wet winters, evergreen shade, and acidic soil make moss a constant battle around Puget Sound. We treat existing moss, then fix what lets it take over, so your grass can grow back thick instead of patchy.

Moss control details

Lawn Aeration

Core aeration loosens compacted glacial soil so water, air, and nutrients reach the roots. It’s one of the best things you can do against moss and puddling, and pairs well with overseeding.

Lawn Rehab

For lawns that are thin, patchy, mossy, or struggling after a rough winter, our lawn rehab combines aeration, overseeding, and organic soil builders to bring the lawn back, then hands it off to regular organic care.

Meet Denny Rochford, Owner of Clean Air Lawn Care Seattle

Denny Rochford is based in the greater Seattle area and is deeply committed to shrinking his community’s ecological footprint through sustainable lawn care. His lifelong dedication to environmental health shows up in everyday habits like reducing, reusing, and recycling to keep his own impact small. That same passion drew him to organic, eco-friendly lawn care, and to offering neighbors a healthier, quieter way to care for their yards.

A local graduate with deep ties to the area, Denny loves the balance of nature and city life that Seattle offers, and he has been actively involved in volunteer leadership roles in the community.

He brings a proven system with him. Clean Air Lawn Care was founded in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2006 and has been franchising since 2008, and our custom organic fertilizers and Moose Juice weed control were developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists.

Lawn Care Built for the Puget Sound Region

Seattle lawns live with close to 40 inches of rain a year, most of it from fall through spring, then dry summer stretches when turf can brown out fast. Many yards sit on compacted glacial soil that tends toward acidic, and tall Douglas firs and cedars shade lawns from Magnolia and Laurelhurst to Lake Forest Park and Sammamish. That’s a recipe for moss and thin grass, which is why our programs build soil first, with organic fertilizers and soil builders, core aeration, and high mowing that helps perennial ryegrass and fine fescue stay thick.

Water is everywhere here, too. Runoff from yards around Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish, Lake Union, the Sammamish River, and countless creeks eventually reaches Puget Sound. Feeding the soil with organic, slow-acting nutrients instead of quick-release synthetic fertilizers, and skipping harsh chemical herbicides, is a simple way to care for your lawn and the water around it at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Seattle

Why should I choose Clean Air Lawn Care for my Seattle lawn?

Because you get organic lawn care and quiet electric equipment from a locally owned team. Clean Air Lawn Care Seattle is owned by Denny Rochford, a local graduate who built his business around shrinking the community’s ecological footprint. We combine electric mowing with organic fertilization, natural weed control, moss control, and aeration, all chosen with kids and pets in mind. Whether you have a tight city lot in Ballard or a bigger yard in Kirkland or Sammamish, your plan is built around Puget Sound soils and weather, without synthetic fertilizers or noisy gas equipment.

Do you offer organic moss control in Seattle?

Yes. Moss is one of the most common lawn problems around Seattle, thanks to wet winters, shade from big evergreens, and compacted, acidic soil. We treat moss as part of our program, then work on the causes with core aeration, organic soil builders, and overseeding so your grass can fill back in and hold its ground.

What areas around Seattle do you serve?

We serve most of Seattle, from Ballard, Magnolia, and Capitol Hill to Beacon Hill, Columbia City, and Delridge, plus the communities north of the city, including Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, and Edmonds. On the Eastside we serve Bellevue, Medina, Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Issaquah, and Sammamish, and to the south we reach Renton, Skyway, Burien, SeaTac, and Tukwila. Not sure if your street is covered? Call or text us and we’ll check.

How does your lawn care approach benefit my family, pets, and the environment?

It keeps synthetic fertilizers, harsh chemical herbicides, and gas exhaust out of your yard. We use organic, plant-based products that feed your soil and are chosen with kids and pets in mind. Our mowers, trimmers, and blowers are electric, so there are no fumes and far less noise, which your neighbors will appreciate in shared courtyards and on tighter city lots. Feeding the soil instead of forcing quick green growth also helps keep runoff out of Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish, and Puget Sound.

Do you take care of garden beds, or just the lawn?

Both. Our outdoor housekeeping service is a full gardening service for your beds and landscape. We weed, prune, mulch with high-quality mulches, and use soil building practices that support strong, long-term plant growth, so your beds stay tidy and healthy through Seattle’s year-round growing climate.

What makes lawn care in the Puget Sound region different?

Rain, shade, and soil. Seattle gets close to 40 inches of rain a year, most of it from fall through spring, followed by dry summer stretches. Many yards sit on compacted glacial soils that tend toward acidic, and tall Douglas firs and cedars cast heavy shade. That combination favors moss and thin turf, so we focus on building soil with organic fertilizers and soil builders, opening it up with core aeration, and mowing high to help cool-season grasses like perennial ryegrass and fine fescue stay thick.

Can you bring back a lawn that’s thin, patchy, or full of moss?

Yes. Our lawn rehab service is built for lawns that need more than a regular treatment. We start by looking at what’s holding the lawn back, like compaction, shade, drainage, or moss, then combine core aeration, overseeding, and organic soil builders to rebuild it. Many of our Seattle customers start here and then move into regular organic care to keep the results.
