Our Organic Lawn Services in the Highlands and Sloan’s Lake
Every service below is built around one idea: feed the soil, and the lawn takes care of itself. Explore the details on each service or get a free estimate.
Organic Lawn Fertilization
Our custom organic fertilizers, developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists, feed the soil with slow-release nutrients and organic matter, so grass under big Highlands trees grows thicker and roots go deeper. Pet-friendly, kid-friendly, and pollinator-friendly.
Organic fertilization detailsNatural Weed Control
Thick turf crowds weeds out naturally. When dandelions, clover, or bindweed push through, we spot treat with Moose Juice, our plant-based weed control, instead of harsh chemical herbicides.
Natural weed control detailsElectric Lawn Mowing
On close-set Highlands and Sloan’s Lake blocks, quiet matters. Our battery-powered equipment runs with no exhaust and far less noise, and we mow high and edge vertically to keep weeds out.
Electric mowing detailsLawn Aeration
Core aeration loosens clay packed down by decades of foot traffic or recent infill construction, so water and nutrients reach the roots. Pair it with overseeding to thicken thin, shady spots.

Meet Erv and Susan Guzman, Owners of Clean Air Lawn Care Washington Park
Ervin and Susan Guzman own Clean Air Lawn Care Washington Park. They love the energy of the Denver metro, time with family, friends, and neighbors, and heading into Colorado’s Rocky Mountains whenever they get the chance.
Throughout their careers, Erv and Susan have built lasting relationships on reliability, attention to detail, and great service. Now they bring that same approach to Denver lawns, giving families healthy, beautiful yards without synthetic fertilizers or harsh chemicals, using products chosen with kids and pets in mind.
Behind them is a proven system. Clean Air Lawn Care was founded in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2006 and has been franchising since 2008, and our custom organic fertilizers and Moose Juice weed control were developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists.

Lawn Care Built for Northwest Denver
Northwest Denver mixes historic Victorians and bungalows with brand-new infill homes, often on small, narrow lots shaded by mature trees. Older yards around Highland, Berkeley, and Sunnyside tend to have tired, compacted clay, while new builds often sit on soil packed down during construction. Around Sloan’s Lake, Denver’s largest lake, and Rocky Mountain Lake Park in Berkeley, what washes off your yard and into storm drains matters even more. That’s why we feed the soil with organic fertilizers, aerate compacted clay, keep product off sidewalks and gutters, and mow high so grass handles Denver’s strong sun and roughly 14 inches of yearly precipitation.
We care for lawns in Highland, West Highland, Sunnyside, Berkeley, Regis, Sloan’s Lake, West Colfax, Jefferson Park, Sun Valley, Villa Park, Barnum, Westwood, Mar Lee, Athmar Park, and Ruby Hill, plus , and Federal Heights. Erv and Susan’s team also serves Washington Park, Platt Park, Bonnie Brae, and south Denver.
Clean Air Lawn Care has pushed for cleaner air here at home, too. When the Regional Air Quality Council voted to phase out the dirtiest gas-powered lawn tools in the Denver region, founder Kelly Giard publicly backed the policy, sharing how our all-electric model has worked since 2006.

How does organic lawn care help Sloan’s Lake?
Synthetic fertilizer that lands on sidewalks, driveways, and gutters can wash into storm drains, and Denver’s storm drains carry that runoff straight to local waterways without treatment. Our organic fertilizers release nutrients slowly instead of all at once, and after every treatment we blow any stray product off hard surfaces and back onto the lawn. Healthier soil also soaks up more water, so less runs off your yard in the first place.
What makes lawn care in the Highlands different?
Many Highlands, Berkeley, and Sunnyside homes are older Victorians, bungalows, and Denver Squares on small, narrow lots, often with mature trees and tight side yards. Add Denver’s mile-high sun, about 14 inches of precipitation a year, and alkaline clay soil, and grass has a lot working against it. We build soil with organic fertilizers and soil builders, aerate compacted clay, and mow high so Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue hold moisture under tree shade and through dry stretches.
Is electric mowing a good fit for dense Highlands blocks?
It’s the best fit. Houses sit close together in the Highlands and around Sloan’s Lake, so gas mower noise and fumes reach every neighbor and every open window. Our battery-powered mowers, trimmers, and blowers run far quieter with no exhaust, so we can care for your lawn without disrupting your block.
Does my Highlands lawn need aeration?
Most do. Denver’s clay compacts easily, especially on older lots with decades of foot traffic and on infill homes where construction packed the soil down. Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil so water, air, and nutrients can reach the roots again. Pairing it with overseeding helps fill in thin areas under trees.
Can my kids and pets use the lawn after a treatment?
Yes. Our organic and plant-based products are chosen with kids and pets in mind, and most families are back on the grass once the treatment dries. If a specific product calls for a short wait, your technician will tell you before they leave.
