What Charleston Customers Say
★★★★★
We chose to hire Clean Air Lawn Care to take care of a property that is on a lake that overlooks the Ashley River as well as is kept at the same height by a spillway into the river. The Lake has its own ecosystem of fish and turtles etc. I wanted to find someone to care for the yard that was slightly overgrown but would not harm the lake. Clean Air Lawn Care has done an excellent job of working on the property using primarily battery operated equipment and only organic fertilizer. They show up when they say they will and are very hard working.
★★★★★
Bob and his team only use electric mowers, leaf blowers and edgers. It’s a game changer!!! Bob has been extremely easy to work and responds quickly.
★★★★★
We’re so grateful to have found Bob + Clean Air Lawn Care! It’s hard to find lawn care that’s both effective and environmentally responsible. Bob is reliable, thoughtful about his work, and clearly cares about doing things the right way. Highly recommend if you want a beautiful lawn without harsh chemicals/machinery and lots of noise!
Our Organic Lawn Services in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and the Sea Islands
Every service below is built around one idea: feed the soil, and the lawn takes care of itself. Explore the details on each service or get a free estimate.
Organic Lawn Fertilization
Our custom organic fertilizers, developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists, are built for the warm-season grasses and coastal soils found in James Island, West Ashley, and Mount Pleasant. Nutrient-rich organic fertilizers and soil builders strengthen roots, improve drought tolerance, and support healthier turf through Charleston’s heat and humidity. Pet-friendly, kid-friendly, and chosen with nearby marshes and waterways in mind.
Organic fertilization detailsNatural Weed Control
Our natural weed control targets the coastal weeds that thrive across Charleston, from dollarweed to spurge and other fast-spreading warm-season invaders. We feed your turf so it grows thick enough to choke out new weeds, and when weeds need extra help leaving, we use Moose Juice, our plant-based weed control, instead of harsh chemical herbicides, from Folly Beach to Johns Island and beyond.
Natural weed control detailsLawn Aeration
Core aeration opens up compacted soil so water, air, and nutrients reach the roots. It helps Lowcountry lawns handle heavy rain and foot traffic, and it pairs well with compost topdressing for a thicker, tougher lawn.
Lawn aeration detailsCompost Topdressing
A thin layer of compost spread across your lawn adds organic matter and beneficial microbes to Charleston’s sandy soil, helping it hold water and nutrients longer so your grass roots go deeper.
Compost topdressing detailsOrganic Lawn Restoration
Thin, patchy, or tired lawn? We rebuild it from the soil up with organic soil builders, compost, and a plan to fill in bare spots, so your yard comes back stronger without synthetic fertilizers.
Lawn restoration detailsElectric Lawn Mowing
Our battery-powered mowing keeps Charleston neighborhoods quieter and cleaner while handling warm-season turf beautifully. There are no fumes or emissions, and the reduced noise makes a big difference in close communities across Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, and Daniel Island. We mow high and edge vertically for a consistent, high-quality cut.
Electric mowing detailsRobot Lawn Mowers
Our robot mower service brings automatic mowing to Charleston yards with professional installation, setup, and ongoing maintenance, using Mammotion robot mowers. They work especially well with warm-season grasses, giving a consistent, clean cut with less noise and yard wear. We handle everything from boundary setup to seasonal adjustments for homeowners in Mount Pleasant, James Island, and surrounding areas.
Robot mower detailsOrganic Gardening
Bob’s team also cares for garden beds and plantings with the same soil-first, organic approach and quiet electric equipment we use on your lawn.
Organic gardening detailsMole Cricket Control
Mole crickets tunnel through Charleston’s sandy soil and damage grass roots, leaving spongy, thinning patches. Bob’s team identifies the activity, builds treatment into your lawn plan, and walks you through the product we use and when we apply it.

Meet Bob Blaschke, Owner of Clean Air Lawn Care Charleston
Bob Blaschke brings a lot of service industry experience to Clean Air Lawn Care Charleston, having run a nationwide technical service network in an earlier chapter of his career. With their kids and grandkids settled in Charleston, Bob and his wife moved down from Fort Mill, SC a few years ago. Wanting to build something meaningful in the community, he was drawn to eco-friendly lawn care. He’d been using battery-powered equipment for years, and the organic approach, better for kids, pets, and the planet, just made sense.
With a technical engineering background, Bob integrates robotic lawn care where it’s practical. For families who want more time for sports, the beach, or just hanging out, and who also value privacy, a robot quietly mowing your lawn and keeping it looking manicured may be just the ticket. It also cuts down on how often crews move around your property. As Bob says, “Caring for our Earth one lawn at a time.”
He brings a proven system with him. Clean Air Lawn Care was founded in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2006 and has been franchising since 2008, and our custom organic fertilizers and Moose Juice weed control were developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists.
Bob’s quiet, organic approach has been featured in The Post and Courier and Holy City Sinner.

Lawn Care Built for the Lowcountry
Charleston lawns grow in a humid, subtropical climate with long, hot summers, mild winters, and around 50 inches of rain a year. Most yards from West Ashley to Mount Pleasant grow warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, centipede, zoysia, and Bermuda, often on sandy coastal soil that drains fast and holds few nutrients. That’s why our programs focus on building soil with organic fertilizers, soil builders, and compost, so roots go deeper and turf handles heat and dry spells better.
Wet, low spots invite dollarweed, and sandy ground is prime territory for mole crickets, two common lawn problems on James Island, Johns Island, and Daniel Island. Because so many Lowcountry yards drain toward tidal creeks, salt marsh, and the Ashley, Cooper, Stono, and Wando Rivers, we skip synthetic fertilizers and harsh chemical herbicides. Quiet, exhaust-free equipment matters here too, from tight-knit streets on Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms to waterfront lots on Kiawah and Seabrook.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eco-Friendly Lawn Care in Charleston
Why should I choose Clean Air Lawn Care for my Charleston lawn?
Because we feed the soil, not just the grass, and we do it quietly. Clean Air Lawn Care Charleston is locally owned and operated by Bob Blaschke, who combines electric mowing, robot mower service, organic fertilization, and natural weed control into custom plans built for Lowcountry heat, humidity, and sandy soil. We serve West Ashley, James Island, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Johns Island, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Wadmalaw Island, Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, Hanahan, Hollywood, Meggett, and Ravenel.
Do you offer natural weed control that’s pet-friendly and kid-friendly?
Yes. Our Grass Masters who service Charleston start with a thick, well-fed lawn that crowds weeds out on its own. When weeds need direct treatment, we use Moose Juice, our plant-based weed control developed with Colorado State University turf and soil scientists. It targets common coastal weeds like dollarweed and spurge, and it’s chosen with kids and pets in mind, without harsh chemical herbicides.
Why might I want a robot mower, and how do you service it?
A robot mower is a hassle-free way to keep your lawn perfectly trimmed. It mows automatically, reduces emissions, operates quietly, and improves lawn health by cutting grass frequently in small increments. We handle installation and setup, boundary mapping, maintenance, and troubleshooting so your robot mower runs smoothly. We’re a proud partner of Mammotion and use their robot mowers.
Do you treat mole crickets?
Yes. Mole crickets are a common lawn pest in Charleston’s sandy soil, tunneling under turf and damaging grass roots. Bob’s team can spot the signs, like spongy soil and thinning, browning patches, and build mole cricket treatment into your lawn plan. Ask about it when you request your estimate.
What makes lawn care in the Charleston Lowcountry different?
Heat, humidity, and sandy soil. Charleston gets around 50 inches of rain a year, and most local lawns are warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, centipede, zoysia, and Bermuda growing in fast-draining coastal soil that holds few nutrients. Wet spots invite dollarweed, sandy ground attracts mole crickets, and many yards drain toward tidal creeks and salt marsh. That’s why we build soil with organic fertilizers, soil builders, and compost, mow high to shade out weeds, and skip synthetic fertilizers and harsh chemical herbicides.
How do organic fertilizers and soil builders improve my lawn?
They build healthier soil, which grows a stronger lawn. Unlike synthetic fertilizers that provide a quick boost but deplete soil health over time, organic fertilizers and soil builders work with nature, enriching the soil with essential nutrients and improving its structure and microbial activity. Healthier soil leads to stronger root systems, which help grass outcompete weeds naturally by choking them out. Over time, this reduces the need for weed treatments while promoting a lush, drought-resistant lawn.
What makes your lawn care eco-friendly and pollinator-friendly?
Every part of our approach is designed to lower our impact. We use electric equipment, organic fertilizers, and plant-based weed control, and we focus on soil health, water conservation, and best mowing practices, like mowing high to promote deeper roots and vertical edging to keep a clean, natural boundary. Our organic fertilizers nourish the soil with bees, butterflies, and other pollinators in mind, and skipping synthetic fertilizers and harsh chemical herbicides helps create a yard where pollinators can flourish.
